Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers can be used on different areas of the face to restore volume and enhance specific features, which can help  contour the face.

So what exactly is Dermal filler?

Dermal fillers are a temporary filler made up of a substance called Hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring carbohydrate already found on our skin. Hyaluronic acid contributes to tissue hydration, which helps restore lost volume and structure.

Where can Dermal filler be placed?

Lips

Lip filler can be used to increase volume, add projection and symmetry, and also aid in hydration.

Cheek Filler

Filler in the cheeks can provide different purposes depending on what the desired outcome is. It can firstly be used to add support to the face and restore volume loss. As we age over time, the mid-facial fat pad can start to diminish, causing the face to look heavy. By restoring this with filler, the cheeks can be lifted, which will also add support the structures below, such as the nose to mouth lines.

Cheek filler can also be used in younger patients to add definition and contour to the face.

Nasolabial lines (Nose to mouth lines)

Nasolabial lines are caused by a loss of volume in the ageing process. This results from the tissue starting to sag, which creates these lines. Dermal filler can be used to soften these lines but it will not eradicate them entirely.

Marionette lines

These can be an extension of the nasolabial lines from the corners of the mouth downwards. Again, filler can be used to soften them but, it will not completely eradicate them.

Chin Filler

Placing filler into the chin can help lengthen the face, making it look more slim and contoured. This is especially effective I patients who have a round or square shaped face. Chin filler can also aid in jawline definition which, can help balance the proportions of the face.
